2013 Bank Holidays

Until the year 2014 there will be changes in the holidays and bridges. The Director General of Employment, Xavier Thibault, expected to close before year-end negotiations with stakeholders.

Speaking to EFE, Thibault explained that the transfer of the three festivals (August 15, the day of the Assumption of the Virgin, on November 1, All Saints Day, and December 6, Constitution Day) requires the “broadest possible consensus.”

Next year would not have a ‘significant impact’
So, as said yesterday the Deputy Prime Minister, Soraya Saenz de Santamaria, the Ministry of Employment continues to negotiate with the Episcopal Conference, the regional governments and the social partners (employers and unions) to transfer certain holidays on Mondays for Religious avoiding bridges and increase business productivity.

According to Thibault, 2013 does not have a calendar of bank holidays 2013 “great impact”, since only August 15 would have been able to be moved if they had closed the negotiations and the legal changes. Therefore, the Ministry of Labour said that the effects of the agreement will be implemented in 2014.

Meanwhile, the Official State Gazette (BOE) has published the work schedule. The year 2013 will feature eight national holidays, one less than this year.

Of the festivities, half fall weekdays (January 1, May 1, August 15 and December 25), while the rest of the days will be playing on Friday or even Saturday, as will 12 October.
